What Would You Say?

I’m sure you have heard people refer to an “elevator speech”.  The idea is if you have a chance to talk to someone about what’s important to you; this “speech” will help you be prepared for that opportunity.  Your comments can only last the amount of time that you might be in an elevator with that person.  So, you have to think about those really important pieces of information that you want to be able to pull out of your memory bank at any time! 

So, if you had about 30 seconds to tell someone about the importance of physical education in our schools, what would you say?  Or, if someone asked you why physical education teachers are needed, would you be ready to answer them?  You never know when you might have an opportunity to be an advocate for our profession, share your passion for teaching, or make a difference in how a decision maker thinks about physical education.  I encourage you to jot down 4-5 key points, practice saying them and then look for that golden opportunity (it doesn’t have to just be in an elevator!) to “sell your program”!
